About the Role

The Instructor I will proficiently instruct assigned courses using approved lesson plans, conducting classroom and practical exercises to achieve course objectives. This position requires collaboration in a team environment with students, internal SIG employees, and the general customer base.

Responsibilities

• Provide an optimal training environment in the classroom and on the range using SIG SAUER Academy instructional methods, practices, and procedures.
• Deliver expert instruction of designated basic-level courses as assigned using approved lesson plans.
• Assist and lead, as capable, all core classes.
• Leverage background and experience to lead, assist, and grow the Academy's capabilities.
• Maintain expert knowledge of firearms safety practices, policies, and procedures.
• Complete the Instructor Training Program course curriculum, including basic and intermediate-level materials.
• Serve as support to business groups within the company.
• Represent the SIG SAUER Academy at events, conferences, trade shows, commercial sales events, and public interactions while maintaining a professional image.
• Assist in developing firearms courses.
• Travel domestically and internationally up to two weeks per month.
• Communicate effectively with leadership regarding problems and corrective actions.
• Maintain regular on-site attendance and punctuality.
• Work in other functional areas or facilities as needed based on business requirements.
• Work overtime or alternate shifts as required.
• Participate in 5S workplace organizational activities and maintain the area in good working order.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent required; 2+ years of experience in providing training in safe handling, manipulation, and implementation of firearms preferred.
• Law enforcement or military instructor-level experience preferred.
• Expert knowledge of weapons, tactics, and the proper handling and use of a wide variety of firearms, including handguns, rifles, shotguns, and automatic weapons.
• Prior Armorer experience is a plus.
• Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally up to two weeks per month.
• Expert knowledge of firearms safety practices and procedures in any environment.
• Ability to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information verbally and in writing.
• Expert presentation skills and the ability to speak in public settings.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and adapt quickly to changes.

Working Conditions

• Work primarily involves standing (90%+ of the shift) with exceptions during breaks or lunch periods.
• Exposure to a shooting range environment requiring frequent standing, kneeling, running, sitting, crouching, crawling, twisting, grasping, and walking.
• Frequent lifting of up to 40 pounds and moving equipment cases or materials up to 100 pounds.
• Frequent bending, kneeling (minimum 50% of the shift), and repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions.
• Proficient fine motor skills, including gripping, reaching, pulling, and turning.
• Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to focus.
• Exposure to varying climate and environmental conditions, including extreme cold and warm weather for extended periods.
• Exposure to firearms, weapons-related chemicals, gun cleaning solvents, ammunition, explosive materials, ammunition smoke, and hand/power tools for weapon and range repairs.
• Exposure to extreme noise from firearms, requiring the use of ear protection equipment.
• Must possess mobility, vision, hearing, and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties performed.
• Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where mandated.
• Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. security mandates.
