About the role
The University at Buffalo Gifted Math Program is seeking a part-time experienced mathematics teacher for an afterschool math class at a grade level in the range 7-12. Classes take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4 to 6:30 p.m. or from 6:30-9 p.m., running from September through April.
Responsibilities
- Preparing and Teaching for 5 hours of class time per week.
- Differentiating instruction for a diverse group of students.
- Communicating with students, parents, and GMP staff by responding in a timely way to emails and phone calls.
- Attending staff meetings.
- Posting grades and assignments on UB Learns in a timely way or supervising instructional assistant in doing this.
- Helping us with student individual needs through feedback, phones calls home, and conferencing.
- Helping students who are absent due to illness or mandatory school activities to obtain missing work.
- Teachers of level 1 students participate in a new student orientation session.
- Teachers of level 2-4 students hold one Regents review session after classes have ended.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education
- NY state teacher’s certification for 7 -12 mathematics
- Masters degree in Mathematics Education preferred
