Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive and episodic patient assessments and manage inpatient neurosurgical cases.
- Establish diagnoses, order and interpret diagnostic studies, perform therapeutic procedures, and manage follow-up care per written physician practice agreements or protocols.
- Prescribe medications and monitor patient responses.
- Perform perioperative management and first-assist in surgeries as appropriate.
- Admit patients, order labs and imaging, and formulate treatment plans.
- Document clinical encounters accurately and maintain continuity of care through effective communication with healthcare team members.
- Function as a clinical leader and educator for physicians, nurses, and APPs.
- Participate in research, quality improvement initiatives, and professional development activities.
- Attend specialty conferences, training sessions, and board review courses.
Minimum Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Advanced Practice Nursing (Acute Care NP) or Physician Assistant program.
- Current license to practice in Colorado as an APP (NP or PA) with prescriptive authority.
- National certification as an APN or PA.
Preferred Qualifications
- Up to 1 year of inpatient or outpatient care experience.
- Experience assisting in neurosurgical procedures.
- Ability to care for high-acuity, high-complexity patients.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills within an APP/Physician/Resident care model.
