About the role

This is an Independent Contractor role working various hours depending on scheduling, contingent on contract award, to provide support to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Strategic Threats Department (OB-ST) by preparing for review and presentation blocks of instruction for the Fundamentals of Strategic Arms Control Course.

Responsibilities

The Instructor/Facilitator is responsible for participating in a total of four 2-hour blocks of instruction to provide instruction on the history of strategic nuclear arms control treaties and agreements, and will participate in group discussions to provide experience-based perspectives on U.S. nuclear arms control policy development and implementation considerations.

  • Prepare and present blocks of instruction based on previous course material for each Fundamentals of Strategic Arms Control Course, including:
    • An overview of the history of strategic arms control from 1968 to the present
    • Selected topics or issues pertaining to INF, START and New START
    • An expert perspective regarding the arms control concepts, national security priorities and relevant arms control treaties
  • Participate in panel discussions during the course regarding relevant arms control treaties, agreements, and risk reduction measures

Requirements

In-depth experience with negotiating and/or implementing bilateral arms control agreements and treaties missions either as a member of on-site teams or as a member of a negotiating body is required.

  • Experience should include work that has or does contribute to the formation of arms control policy through professional engagements with the broader arms control community of the USG, the private sector and academia

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience with negotiating and/or implementing bilateral arms control agreements and treaties missions, as well as experience working with the USG, private sector, and academia to form arms control policy.

Skills

Experience-based perspectives on U.S. nuclear arms control policy development and implementation considerations are necessary, as well as the ability to provide instruction on the history of strategic nuclear arms control treaties and agreements.

Physical And Environmental Requirements

May be required to use computer screen for extensive periods of time, and extended working hours and travel may be necessary.

Location and Travel

Location: Fort Belvoir, VA. Travel may be required.

Security Clearance

Top Secret security clearance is required.
