Instructor - English Composition and Literature

Responsibilities

• Facilitate classroom instruction (in-person and/or online)
• Remain current in the discipline
• Use and be proficient with the college LMS
• Maintain accurate and complete gradebook in LMS
• Refer students to appropriate support resources
• Create or follow departmental syllabi
• Evaluate student performance
• Participate in course-level assessment
• Submit accurate and timely reports for student grades/progress
• Maintain attendance records
• Maintain effective communication with the Chesapeake College community
• Respond to student emails and phone calls within 48 hours
• Complete regulatory training as required
• Perform other duties as outlined in the Faculty Resource Guide

Qualifications

• Most of the job is sedentary, however, occasional periods of light work may be required.
• Lifting up to approximately 35 lbs. occasionally.
• The worker may be exposed to primarily inside classroom/office conditions.
• Visual acuity appropriate for a faculty/administrative position.
• Hearing.
• Grasping, pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching – occasionally.
• Climbing stairs – occasionally.
• Walking – frequently.
