Instructor - Community & Workforce Development

About the role

The successful candidate will provide educational services for students enrolled in Pima County’s Las Artes alternative education program as an academic skills instructor. They will employ approved curricula consistent with the mission and objectives of the applicable education program.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the development of teaching strategies that meet the learning styles of students as they prepare to meet State requirements for high school graduation, General Educational Development (GED) attainment, Employment Training and/or other applicable requirements;
• Affirms the needs of students/participants and develops, implements, modifies and evaluates program instruction for students/participants, including scheduled activities and materials, in accordance with departmental requirements;
• Evaluates the performance of students/participants regarding achievements in curriculum and activities and makes necessary provisions to meet learning needs;
• Notifies administration of the special needs of students who display characteristics which vary from the norm;
• Maintains appropriate records and files and ensures that Arizona Department of Education and other applicable reports and documents are compiled accurately and submitted in a timely manner;
• Participates as a member of an instructional team to promote learning activities consistent with the program's mission and objectives, including monitoring the activities of a teacher's aide or classroom volunteers;
• Collaborates with Pima County One-Stop Staff to assist students in acquiring additional training, education and/or employment opportunities after graduation or completion of program.

Requirements

• Six years of experience that may be any combination of completed coursework at an accredited college or university in education or a related field as determined by the department head at the time of recruitment OR experience working with at-risk individuals or vocational training, adult training or equivalent. (Relevant experience and/or education from an accredited college or university may be substituted.)

Qualifications

• Valid Arizona Teacher Certification (preferred)
• Minimum two (2) years teaching at-risk youth (preferred)
• Minimum two (2) years teaching high school level (preferred)
• Experience with/knowledge of adaptive learning platform techniques (preferred)
• Minimum two (2) years experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) (preferred)

Pay

$49,878 - $67,371 Annually

Schedule

Commutes to various locations throughout Pima County as directed by the department.
