About the role

Wake Tech Community College is seeking to expand our pool of part-time, temporary faculty to teach in various courses in the Community and Career Education Division. Courses taught in this department include a wide variety of personal interest and community enrichment topics. Subject matter may include but is not limited to:

  • Public speaking
  • Writing
  • Photography
  • Dog grooming
  • Investing
  • Floral design
  • Gardening
  • Real estate
  • Auctioneering
  • Translation/interpreting
  • Arts and crafts such as painting, drawing, and crocheting

Responsibilities

  • Prepares instruction that reflects appropriate learning objectives
  • Constructs classroom materials that support the goals of the course
  • Prepares thoroughly for each instructional hour
  • Instructs and guides the class in an efficient and effective manner
  • Uses formative and summative assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching
  • Designs curriculum and a schedule of instruction
  • Maintains communication with course committee instructors and participates in instructional discussions
  • Remains up-to-date on technology and methods of teaching with technology
  • Maintains accurate records of student work and attendance
  • Maintains a safe and orderly learning environment
  • Grades and returns student work in a timely manner
  • Counsels students regarding their grades and progress in the course
  • Supports the Department, Division, and College goals, providing requested data in a timely manner

Requirements

  • Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written communication
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with and maintain positive working relationships with students, peers, supervisors and staff
  • Working knowledge of MS Office products

Education and experience requirements/preferences for teaching positions vary based on subject area and/or discipline.
