About the role

This position is responsible for providing effective instruction in assigned courses. The successful candidate will instruct and guide classes efficiently, develop and update curriculum, and create an optimum learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and update curriculum course outlines, course descriptions, and course objectives
• Provide advising and academic planning for students
• Develop supplemental instructional materials such as handouts, films, slides, and videotapes
• Maintain office hours
• Actively participate in the creation and improvement of departmental processes and procedures
• Collaborate with student success initiatives
• Select and review texts, including new publications
• Participate in curricular changes and program development
• Review changes in course documentation
• Participate in graduation exercises

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in a Human Services related field
• Unofficial transcripts must be attached with your online application prior to submission or submitted to Human Resources immediately upon completing the application

Preferences

• At least two years of experience working in the human services field
• Experience in gerontology
• Current license and/or certification in Human Services discipline
• Post-secondary teaching experience

• Knowledge of area human support services
• Experience with Blackboard or other online teaching tools (preferred)
• Able to use a wide variety of teaching methods to promote learning
• Good organizational skills
• Innovative, creative, motivated, and able to work well with others
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Able to maintain records accurately and meet deadlines consistently
• Able to perform normal duties with minimal supervision
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
