About the Role
Under direction of a certified teacher, instructs students and adapts curriculum to meet needs of students.
Responsibilities
- Administers tests and assessments
- Makes modifications to classroom and homework for students requiring modifications
- Assists in planning and implementing field trips
- Provides one-on-one and/or group tutoring assistance
- Maintains order, discipline, and interest of children
- Escorts students to areas on campus
- Prepares classroom for activities
- Grades papers
- Attends in-service training sessions
- Tests students in various areas
- Enters and updates student information
- Maintains classroom bulletin boards and displays
- Contacts parents
- Makes copies
Requirements
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- One year of educational or clerical experience
- Licenses: Title Schools - 60 hours of secondary education or successful completion of the Paraprofessional test; Special Needs - Ability to obtain First Aid and CPR certification within 30 days of employment. Valid Department of Public Safety (DPS) Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC)

- Knowledge: Basic first aid; Basic mathematical skills; Customer service principles; Computer operations; Classroom operations and activities

Physical Requirements
- Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions
- Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects
- Incumbents may be subjected to odors, extreme temperatures, and intense noises
