Instructional Specialist II - Institute for School Partnership

About the role

Responsible for promoting the understanding of and engagement with science through interactions with K-12 educators and university faculty, as well as through the development of instructional materials.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

• Create science instructional materials, including lesson plans, assessments, and student-facing materials.
• Collaborate with K-12 educators, informal educators, scientists, and university faculty to create high quality, engaging instructional materials.
• Edit materials based on observations, teacher feedback and assessment results.
• Facilitate our efforts to provide Wash U partner educators with high-quality curriculum and materials, professional development and data analysis.
• Facilitate curriculum-based science professional development sessions to in-service teachers.
• Collaborate with other ISP instructional specialists and other instructional leaders to create professional development sessions related to best practices in science teaching and learning, and teacher leadership.
• Participate in research and evaluation efforts to inform curriculum development.
• Observe teachers, collect and analyze quantitative data, and contribute to reports on efficacy of curriculum and kit materials for improving student outcomes in science.
• Participate in general ISP activities.
