Instructional Paraprofessional - Student Advocate

About the role

The Teacher Assistant Title I position provides support to the instructional program within assigned classrooms.

Responsibilities

• Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher.
• Administers classroom assignments, tests, homework assignments, make-up work, etc.
• Affords support and reinforcement to students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments.
• Communicates with teachers and/or parents regarding student progress and classroom objectives.
• Implements instructional programs and lesson plans under the supervision of assigned teachers.
• Maintains classroom equipment, work area, and manual and electronic files and records.
• Maintains a safe and positive learning environment by monitoring students in various settings.
• Reports observations and incidents relating to specific students to appropriate personnel.
• Serves as a support to classroom teachers and other school personnel.

Requirements

• Age 16+
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Associates degree or 60 quarter/48 semester hours
• Passes the para pro praxis test
