About the role
The Teacher Assistant Title I position provides support to the instructional program within assigned classrooms.
Responsibilities
- Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher.
- Administers classroom assignments, tests, homework assignments, make-up work, etc.
- Affords support and reinforcement to students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments.
- Communicates with teachers and/or parents regarding student progress and classroom objectives.
- Implements instructional programs and lesson plans under the supervision of assigned teachers.
- Maintains classroom equipment, work area, and manual and electronic files and records.
- Maintains a safe and positive learning environment by monitoring students in various settings.
- Reports observations and incidents relating to specific students to appropriate personnel.
- Serves as a support to classroom teachers and other school personnel.
Requirements
- Age 16+
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associates degree or 60 quarter/48 semester hours
- Passes the para pro praxis test
