Hourly rate: Untrained – Lane 5 $15.61, Trained – Lane 6 $16.62 (employee may complete in-district training to qualify for Lane 6). 3 hours per day.
About the role
This position entails working one-on-one with a student who has 504 accommodations. May involve occasional toileting assistance.
Responsibilities
- Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher to support and reinforce classroom objectives and IEP goals.
- Administers immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health care professional (e.g., medication, tube feeding, colostomy bags).
- Administers tests, homework, and make-up work to support teachers in the classroom.
- Assists in data collection under the direction of the assigned teacher to monitor student progress.
- Assists students with self-care activities (e.g., toileting, washing, changing diapers, eating, dressing, grooming).
- Assists students, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments (e.g., reading stories, listening to students read, writing assistance, reinforcing English lessons, spelling practice, facilitating activities, computer learning programs).
- Attends job-specific trainings and meetings (e.g., first aid, behavior management).
- Communicates with supervising instructional staff and professional support personnel to assist in evaluating progress and/or implementing IEP and/or 504 objectives.
- Demonstrates appropriate role modeling (e.g., conversation, manners, emotional support, listening skills, friendly and engaging attitudes).
- Implements, under the supervision of the assigned teacher, behavioral plans identified in student IEPs.
- Maintains instructional materials and/or manual and electronic files/records, classroom equipment, and work area.
- Monitors students during assigned periods in various school environments (e.g., restrooms, playgrounds, hallways, bus loading zones, cafeteria, parking lots).
- Performs clerical duties (e.g., screening phone calls, distributing materials, maintaining inventories, processing documents).
- Provides, under the supervision of the assigned teacher, instruction to students in individual and group activities (e.g., academic subjects, social skills, daily living skills).
- Reports observations and incidents relating to specific students (e.g., accidents, fights, inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions).
- Supervises and escorts students to/from classes to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
Requirements
- Age 18 or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must complete mandatory employee training within the first 3 months of employment.
