About the Department
The Donald G. Costello College of Business at George Mason University is one of the largest business schools in Virginia, located near Washington, D.C., in Arlington and Fairfax, and at George Mason’s global campus in Incheon, South Korea. Management is one of the six areas of the Costello College of Business. With 11 tenure-line faculty and 5 term faculty, the Management area has expertise in Organizational Behavior, Strategy, and Entrepreneurship. Organizational behavioral researchers study topics such as individual cognition, creativity, decision-making, team dynamics, leadership, and global/cultural issues. Strategy and entrepreneurship researchers explore strategic management, international strategy, competitive strategy, and global business issues. Faculty publish in top management journals including Administrative Science Quarterly and Strategic Management Journal. The management area offers courses in relevant areas (e.g., the College’s capstone strategy course), minors in entrepreneurship and international business, and will launch a PhD program in Strategic Management.
About the Role
The Instructional Open Rank position teaches Management courses (with a focus in strategy and entrepreneurship) in undergraduate and graduate programs. The role provides service to the Management Area, the Costello College of Business, the University, the profession, and interfaces with the business community.
Responsibilities
- Teach management courses in undergraduate and graduate programs (teaching load determined by the college’s workload policy);
- Provide service to the management area, the Costello College of Business, the university, and the profession, including academic community engagement, student mentoring, committee membership, and interfacing with the business community.
Requirements
- Terminal degree in a related field;
- Experience teaching college-level Strategic Management (or related) courses;
- Good citizenship in terms of service and ability to work well with colleagues.
Preferred Qualifications
- Clear evidence of teaching experience and ability;
- Qualified as Scholarly Academic by either:
- A Ph.D. earned after May 2022, or
- At least two publications in business peer-reviewed journals on the ABDC list, accepted after July 1, 2022.
