About the role
The Instructional Designer III leads the development and support for the classroom, hybrid or online courses for the Center of Excellence in Forensic Nursing at Texas A&M Health College of Nursing.
Responsibilities
- Manages course design and development projects for the Center.
- Administers and maintains online development courses/resources for continuing education and professional development for forensic nursing.
- Ledds faculty and /or staff through the design process and makes key recommendations for design.
- Researches, reviews, and recommends software, multimedia applications, and web-based educational technologies.
- Collaborates with Center instructors and subject matter experts (SMEs) to design and develop online, blended, and web-enhanced and responsive forensic nursing continuing education courses and ECHO SAFE programs.
- Designs online modules.
- Oversees and manages the planning and coordinating materials with course instructor, instructional design team, and multimedia team.
- Creates, edits, and updates a variety of website content using a content management system.
- Has experience with learning management systems such as Canvas.
- Is familiar with managing HTML, CSS, and basic website design tools and assets.
- Uses HD video cameras, 360 cameras, HD photography cameras, audio receivers, video cards, and other video/photo capture equipment, hardware, and software used in producing promotional and educational content.
- Identifies and recommends the use of instructional strategies, technologies, and applications for forensic nursing continuing education courses.
- Researches and reviews emerging instructional design innovations and trends.
- Consults and leads Center faculty and/or staff with curriculum design related to continuing education for forensic nursing.
- Aids speakers who are presenting during live webinars.
- Works with registrants to access the webinar or live education activity.
- Manages event registration websites, registration exports, user accounts, design assets, and communication notification templates.
- Works with registrants as necessary to troubleshoot.
- Plans, develops, and provides guidance and training for Center faculty and/or staff on curriculum design strategies and course design for forensic nursing continuing education and ECHO SAFE programs.
- Performs usability studies and creates reports related to forensic nursing continuing education, including ECHO SAFE programs for grant reporting.
- Leads and manages the course review process.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Four years of related experience in curriculum/instructional design and program coordination.
- Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree or higher in curriculum/instructional design or related field, minimum of two years of experience developing eLearning courses using applications such as Articulate 360: Rise and/or Storyline, Camtasia, and Adobe Captivate, and experience working with continuing education/professional development programs.
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities include ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others, ability to present information clearly and concisely, ability to provide quality customer service, knowledge of word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet applications, knowledge of online course design principles and practices, knowledge of mobile learning and developing responsive e/mLearning courses, knowledge of Learning Management Systems and instructional technologies, proficiency in developing eLearning courses using applications such as Articulate 360: Rise and/or Storyline, Camtasia, and Adobe Captivate, excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
