Instructional Designer/Content Developer

About the role

Location: Atlanta, GA - LOCAL CANDIDATES ONLY. Duration: 9+ Months. The Instructional Designer/Content Developer contractor supports the Department of Administrative Services (DOAS) State Purchasing Division (SPD) in designing and developing digital training courses using Articulate Storyline 360 and Articulate Studio 360, with working knowledge of TechSmith SnagIt and Adobe Captivate. The role includes creating job aids, videos, and other training materials, and requires strong project management, communication, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop digital training courses using Articulate Storyline 360 and Articulate Studio 360.
• Create effective online courses and model effective instructional design and content development practices.
• Work collaboratively with training staff, subject‑matter experts, and other staff to design, develop, and evaluate digital courses.
• Provide instructional design support, recommending appropriate tools and course design structure.
• Perform screencasts, edit video recordings, source and edit audio files, and identify and edit graphics for instructional materials.
• Manage and complete projects within specified timelines while handling multiple projects simultaneously.
• Incorporate new learning methods, instructional techniques, and emerging technologies in creative and collaborative ways.
• Publish digital courses to the web or a Learning Management System (LMS), applying necessary LMS settings.
• Support the DOAS/SPD Training and Development team with a high level of independence.
• Demonstrate strong project management, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Show passion for creating innovative learning and educational solutions; be a strategic thinker, technology‑savvy, results‑driven, innovative, and personable.
• Maintain excellent time‑management skills.
• Use Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint) as needed.

Requirements

• Proven experience designing and developing digital training courses with Articulate Storyline 360 and Articulate Studio 360.
• Working knowledge of TechSmith SnagIt and Adobe Captivate.
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
• Familiarity with instructional design technology ancillary tools such as graphics, video, and sound editors.
• Ability to create job aids, videos, and other training materials.
• Strong project management, communication, and collaboration skills.
• High level of independence and excellent time‑management abilities.
• Strategic thinker, technology‑savvy, results‑driven, innovative, and personable.
• Capable of publishing courses to LMS/web and applying necessary settings.
