About the role
At Alpha, this position is fundamentally a Guide role: a dynamic, engaging presence children genuinely enjoy learning with. Your reading expertise qualifies you for consideration; your capacity to captivate a K‑2 group for a 20‑minute workshop determines your selection. You create small‑group reading workshops informed by real‑time performance data and facilitate motivation sessions that propel students toward weekly app objectives using school currency, leaderboards, and developmentally appropriate gamification.
Responsibilities
- Creating and facilitating small‑group K‑2 reading workshops rooted in structured‑literacy approaches (Orton‑Gillingham, Wilson, LETRS, IMSE, or equivalent), informed by authentic student data
- Conducting daily motivation sessions that ensure 100% of your students achieve their weekly adaptive‑app targets, leveraging Alpha's motivational framework (school currency, leaderboards, age‑appropriate gamification)
- Administering and evaluating running records, fluency probes, and decoding assessments to monitor progress and modify upcoming instruction
- Analyzing AI‑generated performance data from Alpha's adaptive learning applications to differentiate instruction dynamically, not solely during advance planning
- Serving as the approachable, energetic adult your K‑2 students are excited to see each day
Requirements
- Structured‑literacy certification (Orton‑Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson Reading System, IMSE, CERI, Neuhaus, UFLI, or equivalent) OR a Master's degree in reading instruction
- Bachelor's degree in any field, plus 2+ years of full‑time K‑2 structured reading instruction within the past 5 years in a school or clinical environment, utilizing systematic phonics or structured literacy
- Proven ability to develop your own reading lessons and clearly explain what you teach and how, without dependence on a published program
- Proven ability to assess reading progress and articulate specific student gains in areas such as fluency, accuracy, phonics, or decoding
- Willingness to work in person full‑time at one Alpha campus: Phoenix, AZ; Oklahoma City or Tulsa, OK; Fort Worth (Keller), Dallas, Plano, or The Woodlands, TX; or Park City (Salt Lake City), UT (relocation assistance available)
- Willingness to work with all K‑2 students (not exclusively struggling readers) and to incorporate AI and adaptive‑learning tools into daily instruction
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship
Qualifications
- Practical experience with AI‑powered or adaptive reading platforms (e.g., Amira, Lexia, i‑Ready, Reading Plus) for instructional planning or student data interpretation
- Experience in non‑traditional or innovative educational settings (charter, micro‑school, Montessori, hybrid)
- Experience in performance, youth sports coaching, or otherwise engaging a K‑2 audience beyond the reading classroom
Skills
- Deep expertise in structured‑literacy methodologies (Orton‑Gillingham, LETRS, Wilson, IMSE, etc.)
- Ability to design engaging, data‑driven small‑group reading workshops for K‑2 learners
- Skill in facilitating motivation sessions using gamification, school currency, and leaderboards
- Proficiency in administering and interpreting running records, fluency probes, and decoding assessments
- Capacity to analyze AI‑generated performance data to differentiate instruction dynamically
- High energy and ability to captivate young children, fostering excitement for learning
Benefits
- Health, dental, and vision coverage starting day one
Pay
$100,000 annual salary, paid weekly
Schedule
40 hours per week, 100% in‑classroom engagement with K‑2 students
