About the role
The Instructional Coach at Homewood-Flossmoor High School is an outstanding teacher with a deep understanding of students' learning needs. They view students' cultural and social identities and lived experiences as assets to their educational experiences.
Responsibilities
- Aids in identifying, planning, and facilitating professional learning opportunities for teachers to improve student achievement.
- Buils trust and rapport with the entire school to establish credibility.
- Collaborates with principals, department chairs, and individual teachers to implement effective instructional practices, focusing on co-planning, co-teaching, and modeling.
- Serves as a classroom supporter, instructional specialist, data coach, and professional learning facilitator.
- Communicates with teachers, principals, and others via various methods to share information.
- Facilitates conversations with individual teachers, teacher teams, whole staffs, and other groups to meet school and district objectives.
- Identifies coaching needs, interests, and desires through collaborative conversations and provides appropriate and effective coaching.
- Develops collective teacher efficacy by providing modeling and co-teaching of proven instructional methods and materials in the classroom.
Requirements
- Professional Educators License (PEL) and appropriate endorsement.
- Minimum 5 years successful teaching experience required.
- Master's Degree in teaching, curriculum, and instruction or related field (preferred).
