Responsibilities
- Aids teachers in developing strategies for effective student learning focusing on core content area standards.
- Works with students as needed, gathering data through observation, dialogue, and testing tools to design alternative strategies for meeting diagnosed student needs.
- Facilitates the use of data to enhance student achievement.
- Facilitates parental involvement and parent education to boost student learning.
- Supports teachers in implementing curriculum integration, with a focus on communication skills.
- Models effective teaching strategies and their applications.
- Assists teachers in implementing Common Core State Standards and district initiatives across all curricular areas.
- Serves as the primary coach liaison between the school and the district.
- Serves as a "Lead Learner" in Professional Learning Communities.
- Consults in the selection of instructional materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Involves in the implementation and monitoring of the School's Improvement Plan.
Qualifications
- Masters degree preferred, but a Bachelor’s degree meets Florida certification requirements for the educational subject area(s) to be coached.
- Five (5) years of successful teaching experience.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven ability to provide professional development.
- Effective/Highly Effective VAM in the area where coaching will occur, or historical teacher proficiency and growth may be considered if no VAM is available.
- Previous academic coaching experience is desired.
