Responsibilities

  • Aids teachers in developing strategies for effective student learning focusing on core content area standards.
  • Works with students as needed, gathering data through observation, dialogue, and testing tools to design alternative strategies for meeting diagnosed student needs.
  • Facilitates the use of data to enhance student achievement.
  • Facilitates parental involvement and parent education to boost student learning.
  • Supports teachers in implementing curriculum integration, with a focus on communication skills.
  • Models effective teaching strategies and their applications.
  • Assists teachers in implementing Common Core State Standards and district initiatives across all curricular areas.
  • Serves as the primary coach liaison between the school and the district.
  • Serves as a "Lead Learner" in Professional Learning Communities.
  • Consults in the selection of instructional materials, supplies, and equipment.
  • Involves in the implementation and monitoring of the School's Improvement Plan.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree preferred, but a Bachelor’s degree meets Florida certification requirements for the educational subject area(s) to be coached.
  • Five (5) years of successful teaching experience.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to provide professional development.
  • Effective/Highly Effective VAM in the area where coaching will occur, or historical teacher proficiency and growth may be considered if no VAM is available.
  • Previous academic coaching experience is desired.
