Requirements / Qualifications
- Any combination of education and experience including graduation from high school or equivalent and extensive and demonstrated (paid or volunteer) experience working with children.
- Knowledge of general concepts of child growth, development, and behavior.
- Knowledge of general subjects taught in District schools.
- Knowledge of safe practices in classroom activities.
- Knowledge of basic instructional methods, techniques, and strategies.
- Knowledge of correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary.
- Knowledge of oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
- Knowledge of basic record-keeping techniques.
- Knowledge of classroom procedures and appropriate student conduct.
- Ability to provide instructional support and assistance to teachers and students.
- Ability to reinforce instruction to individual or small groups of students.
- Ability to learn and utilize methods and procedures to be followed in an instructional setting.
- Ability to assist with instruction and related activities in a classroom or assigned learning environment.
- Ability to monitor, observe, and report student behavior and progress according to approved policies and procedures.
- Ability to reinforce instruction to individual or small groups of students as directed by the teacher.
- Ability to understand, interpret, and apply rules, regulations, standards, and procedures.
- Ability to perform clerical duties related to classroom activities.

Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a site administrator and daily direction of a credentialed teacher(s), perform a variety of supportive tasks and instructional activities in the Transitional Kindergarten (TK) program; facilitate student engagement and interaction with the curriculum, learning environment, and peers; utilize specialized skills for the care, supervision, and teaching of TK students; and perform related duties and tasks as required.
