Essential Performance Responsibilities

  • Provide the highest quality care and supervision to students in the Broward County School System.
  • Support the instructional process by providing classroom supports that enhance the educational experience.
  • Play a vital role in the instructional process of an individualized program of education.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • A standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Education Development (GED) testing program.
  • The ability to interact and communicate effectively with children.
  • Computer skills required as needed for the position.

Prior to Employment

  • Candidate must meet the Preferred Qualifications if the position is funded by Title I.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Successful completion of the Principal of Teaching formerly known as Teacher Assisting Curriculum at the designated technical college in the Broward County School District.
  • Achieving a passing score on the ParaPro Test, or other officially sanctioned standard tests, to demonstrate the ability to assist in instructing reading/language arts, writing, and mathematics; or reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness, as appropriate.
  • An earned associate degree from an accredited institution, or at least 60 semester hours of earned college credit from an accredited institution.
  • Bilingual skills.

Significant Contacts

  • Frequently interacts with other personnel within the assigned school in performing daily work routine.

Physical Requirements

  • Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.

Terms of Employment

  • Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the district’s approved compensation plan.
  • The length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the School Board.
