Instructional Assistant-SPED Central

Responsibilities

• Tutor individual and small groups of students as directed by the teacher.
• Facilitate student tasks in activity centers.
• Read to children and listen to children read.
• Assist in the preparation of AV, media and technology for instructional use.
• Help supervise children in and out of the classroom.
• Assist the classroom teacher in completing the clerical tasks of the classroom.
• Respect the confidentiality of the students in all matters at all times.
• Indoor & outdoor student supervision for playground/cafeteria.
• Complete other tasks as assigned by the building principal.

Requirements

A high school diploma and any one of the following:

• Associates degree or higher
• Two years of college (48 credit hours)
• ParaPro Assessment with a score of 460
• Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
• Be willing to complete 10 modules in the online training platform Paraeducator within 2 months of employment at PTS (free training resources provided by PTS)

Must remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout employment. Must adhere to PTS Core Values, the PTS Strategic Plan, and all PTS District policies and guidelines including but not limited to the civility policy.

Work Environment
