Instructional Assistant - Special Education, Extended Content Standards III

About the role

Provides support and assists in coordinating instructional programs relating to special education students and their Individual Education Plans (IEP).

Maintains an environment conducive to learning.

Responsibilities

• Makes sure the classroom is safe and healthy for all students.
• Supports teachers in implementing students' behavioral intervention plans.
• Aids in planning and organizing lessons, ensuring materials are ready for each lesson.
• Assists in the use of assistive technology and augmentative communication devices.
• Compiles, maintains, and files reports and documents, maintaining confidentiality.
• Facilitates student transitions between classes and provides special care for students with health needs.
• Attends and completes specialized training for students with severe to profound learning disabilities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and working toward an Associate's degree in early childhood education or a related field.
• Experience working with individuals with special needs.
• CPI certification.
