About the role
Provides support and assists in coordinating instructional programs relating to special education students and their Individual Education Plans (IEP).
Maintains an environment conducive to learning.
Responsibilities
- Makes sure the classroom is safe and healthy for all students.
- Supports teachers in implementing students' behavioral intervention plans.
- Aids in planning and organizing lessons, ensuring materials are ready for each lesson.
- Assists in the use of assistive technology and augmentative communication devices.
- Compiles, maintains, and files reports and documents, maintaining confidentiality.
- Facilitates student transitions between classes and provides special care for students with health needs.
- Attends and completes specialized training for students with severe to profound learning disabilities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED and working toward an Associate's degree in early childhood education or a related field.
- Experience working with individuals with special needs.
- CPI certification.
