Instructional Assistant-South Haven

Responsibilities

• Tutor individual and small groups of students as directed by the teacher.
• Facilitate student tasks in activity centers.
• Read to children and listen to children read.
• Assist in the preparation of AV, media, and technology for instructional use.
• Help supervise children in and out of the classroom.
• Assist the classroom teacher in completing clerical tasks.
• Respect the confidentiality of students at all times.
• Provide indoor and outdoor student supervision for playground and cafeteria.
• Complete other tasks as assigned by the building principal.

Requirements

The minimum education, experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required for this position include:

• A high school diploma and any one of the following:
  • Associate’s degree or higher, OR
  • Two years of college (48 credit hours), OR
  • ParaPro Assessment with a score of 460, OR
  • Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, OR
  • Willingness to complete 10 modules in the online training platform Paraeducator within 2 months of employment (free training resources provided).
