Instructional Assistant - Preschool (7850)
About the role
To assist the teacher with teaching objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve classroom and individual goals.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Excellent attendance record
- Must have, or be willing to obtain First Aid and CPR certification and keep certifications current
- Must be able to bend and lift 30 lbs. and stand for long periods of time
- Six months of child care experience if working with enrolled children five years old and younger
- Must pass a background clearance
- Must obtain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card

188 Days; 9 Months

Classroom teacher, site administrator, preschool coordinator
HOURS
35 hours per week - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday: 8 a.m.-4 p.m.; Wednesday: 8 a.m.-12 p.m.

Performance Responsibilities
- Work with individual students or groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the teacher or reinforcing individual IEP goals
- Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the classroom teacher
- Check class work, grade papers and supervise testing as assigned by the teacher
- Serve as the chief source of information and help any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher
- Alert the classroom teacher to any problems
- Maintain the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information as is expected of teachers
- Participate in in-service training programs as required
- Aid students with lunch, snack, recess and cleanup routines
- Meet students at the bus each morning and take them to the bus in the afternoon
- Aid students with wash-up and toilet routines, including changing diapers
- Operate and care for equipment and assistive technology used in the classroom
- Aid with student supervision in all school settings
- Refer all parent questions/concerns directly and immediately to classroom teacher
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned to advance district priorities

- Regularly stand, sit and talk or hear
- Frequently use hands and arms, stand, bend or stoop
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus
Work Environment
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
