Essential Job Functions
- Assist in instructional activities and supervision of students in a structured and unstructured environment.
- Assist in behavior management strategies and consequences, and may assist with self-help skills and health care procedures.
- May work with wheelchair or ambulatory students in small groups or on an individual basis, and may be required to lift or restrain students weighing up to 80 pounds.
- May transport student(s) in school vans into the community for school-related activities.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Dependable driving and work record a must.
- Positive and friendly work attitude.
- Must have DPI Spec. Ed. Program Aide certification or be willing to become certified.
- Red Cross First Aid and CPR certified, or willing to take class.
- Must be able to work flexible hours.
- Ability to get along and communicate well with staff, students, and parents.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to use computer equipment and other assistive technology devices.
- Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
