About the role
The Instructional Assistant (IA) supports classroom teachers in various activities and creates a safe, healthy, and encouraging environment for students.
Responsibilities
- Aids teachers with planning and organizing lessons
- Evaluates instructional activities and prepares necessary materials
- Ensures materials for students are readily available
- Works with individual students and/or specific groups of students
- Participates in the district staff development program
- Maintains a positive disposition and exercises good judgment
- Performs vision and hearing screenings and enters results into EASi
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- If employed in a Title I school, meet the employment requirements outlined by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
- Hold and maintain a Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification (if required by the school)
- CPR and First Aid certification (preferred)
Qualifications
- Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Apps, and instructional delivery methods
- Working knowledge of core subjects at the grade level to which employment assignment is made
- Ability to recognize and support students of diverse backgrounds, learning abilities, and learning styles
- Ability to protect the confidentiality of personally identifiable information in accordance with FERPA and other applicable laws
- Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively with others
- Ability to motivate students and communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
- Ability to implement academic and behavioral interventions, as needed
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, students, parents, businesses, community agencies, and the public

Noncertified Grade 20
Schedule
Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends)
Work week schedule does not exceed 40 hours per week and begins at least 30 minutes prior to the instructional day for students.
