What You’ll Do
- Aid in the educational and social development of students.
- Implement Individual Education Plans for students and monitor their progress.
- Support individual students inside and outside of the classroom.
- Work with other professionals like speech therapists, social workers, and therapists.
- Maintain student records and assist with scheduling ARD meetings and REEDs.
- Acquire contracted service providers as needed.
- Evaluate student progress regularly and use findings to improve special education services.
- Create and update IEP Report Cards for parents.
- Aid in the Response to Intervention process and seek assistance as needed.
- Communicate with parents, students, teachers, and administrators through conferences.
- Support the campus's student management policies and behavior management strategies.
- Implement school board policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
- Compile and maintain all required reports and documents.
- Perform special projects and duties during and after normal business hours.

- Working knowledge of and compliance with federal and state special education law.
- Knowledge of and compliance with individualized services for students with disabilities.
- Knowledge of and compliance with the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee process.
- Knowledge of the development and implementation of the Individual Education Plan (IEP) process.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer skills to implement multiple and diverse programs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to learn and implement teaching curriculum software programs and instruct students on their utilization.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of students with disabilities, parents, administrative staff, and Campus Directors.
- Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and student data such as diagnostic test results, state assessments scoring, transcripts, and grade point average.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Education And Experience
- Must be a high school graduate or hold a GED certificate.
- Experience working with students or parents as approved by the employing superintendent.
- Satisfy one of the following requirements:
- Three creditable years of experience as either an Educational Aide I or II.
- Thirty semester hours of college credit with some emphasis on child growth and development or related subject areas.
- Completion of an Education Service Center Instructional Aide certification course.
