Position Summary
Aid teachers in monitoring the learning center and supporting students' progress.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED holder
- Experience working with students or parents, approved by superintendent
- Work experience in church-related schools, day camps, youth groups, private schools, licensed daycare centers, or similar settings
- High school student aged 18 or older with a final grade of 70 or better in two or more specified education and training courses, verified in writing by the district superintendent
- Courses must cover either Instructional Practices or Practicum in Education and Training, totaling at least three credits
- At least six months of experience working in public or private schools (preferred)
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Passion for children
- Patient and interactive approach with children
- Knowledge of federal and state education laws
- Computer literacy
- Strong organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to learn and implement teaching curriculum software and instruct students
- Ability to follow instructions verbally and in writing
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Effective management of multiple priorities
- Development and maintenance of positive working relationships
- Ability to travel as needed
- Ability to provide academic support in Algebra
Responsibilities and Duties
- Assist teachers or coordinators in all aspects of their work
- Implement instructional programs and lesson plans under supervision
- Support understanding of assessments
- Help teachers check daily goals to ensure completion
- Motivate students to maximize learning
- Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops
- Inspire students through consistency, care, and interest to build self-esteem and promote future success
- Praise, compliment, and encourage students to foster character development
- Facilitate activities promoting speaking, listening, reading, and writing in English
- Perform special projects outside regular business hours and other tasks as assigned
- Contribute to other duties as directed by supervisor
