Instructional Aide
About the role
Assist teacher in preparation and management of classroom activities and administrative requirements. Work under supervision of certified teacher.
Qualifications
Education/Certification: CDA or Associates Degree or Higher Educational Aide Assessment Training. Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to work well with children, Ability to communicate effectively. Experience: Some experience working with children.
Major Responsibilities And Duties
- Assist certified teachers, administration and office staff in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
- Help maintain neat and orderly classroom.
- Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment and instructional materials.
- Plan, organize and make workroom supplies, paper goods, and materials readily available to staff.
- Conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher; work with individual students or small group.
- Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.
- Keep teacher informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
Other
- Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance.
- Participate in faculty meeting and special events as assigned.
Working Conditions
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching. Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds). May work prolonged or irregular hours; occasional districtwide travel. Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
