Institutional Pricing & Access Lead
The Role
Moderna is seeking a strategic and highly collaborative Institutional Pricing & Access Lead to shape pricing, contracting, and access strategy across the U.S. institutional channel for Moderna’s respiratory vaccine portfolio. This role will be responsible for developing and executing institutional pricing frameworks, optimizing non-retail access, and driving profitable growth across government accounts, public health organizations, integrated delivery networks (IDNs), and 340B-covered entities.
Here’s What You’ll Do
Develop and execute the U.S. institutional pricing and access strategy for Moderna’s respiratory vaccine portfolio.
Design and manage institutional pricing architecture aligned to commercial goals, reimbursement dynamics, regulatory requirements, and customer needs.
Establish contract pricing structures and volume-based pricing frameworks across government, public health, IDN, and 340B channels.
Evaluate market trends, public-sector policy changes, reimbursement dynamics, and competitive activity to inform pricing and access decisions.
Support strategic planning for institutional and public-sector vaccine distribution models.
Lead negotiation and management of public-sector agreements and institutional customer agreements.
Structure pricing terms, volume commitments, rebates, administrative fees, and other commercial arrangements while ensuring alignment with governance and policy requirements.
Partner with Legal, Compliance, Finance, and Government Affairs to maintain contract integrity and regulatory adherence.
Oversee government pricing operational support activities across Moderna's vaccine portfolio, ensuring accurate and compliant execution of government price reporting obligations.
Manage external government pricing vendors and consulting partners responsible for calculations, data validation, submissions, and reporting support related to federal pricing programs.
Partner with Finance, Contracting, Legal, Compliance, Government Affairs, and Commercial Operations to ensure appropriate interpretation and execution of government pricing requirements and policy changes.
Monitor the impact of institutional pricing and contracting decisions on government price reporting metrics, compliance obligations, and pricing governance requirements.
Ensure timely delivery of government pricing reports, audit support materials, documentation, and compliance-related submissions.
Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, data integrity, controls, and risk mitigation across government pricing and reporting processes.
Develop strategies to enhance vaccine access and uptake across institutional and public-sector channels.
Partner with Commercial Operations, Market Access, Medical, Supply Chain, and Sales teams to align pricing and contracting strategies with demand generation and customer engagement efforts.
Lead launch readiness, seasonal planning, and public health campaign execution for respiratory vaccine programs.
Identify opportunities to optimize ordering behavior, inventory management, and institutional account performance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
Serve as the primary commercial partner to align institutional pricing and access strategies with broader portfolio and enterprise objectives.
Act as Moderna's institutional pricing subject matter expert, providing guidance on pricing governance, access strategy, and policy recommendations across the respiratory vaccine portfolio.
Partner with Finance, Contracting, Legal, Compliance, Government Affairs, and Commercial Operations to evaluate pricing scenarios, structure agreements, and optimize institutional channel performance.
Coordinate with Market Access, Forecasting, Supply Chain, Medical, and Marketing teams to align pricing, access, and customer engagement strategies.
Engage with global counterparts to ensure alignment on pricing governance, compliance standards, access strategy, and best-practice sharing.
Present institutional pricing, access, and government pricing recommendations to Commercial Leadership Team and senior enterprise stakeholders.
Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Life Sciences, Public Health, or related field.
10+ years with demonstrated leadership of institutional pricing, government pricing, or public-sector contracting strategies.
Deep understanding of U.S. public-sector and institutional healthcare landscape, including government vaccine purchasing, IDNs, 340B program dynamics, and government pricing regulations.
Experience managing institutional pricing structures, public-sector agreements, government price reporting processes, and gross-to-net calculations.
Experience overseeing government pricing vendors, consultants, or operational support partners.
Proven success negotiating contracts with government entities, healthcare systems, public health organizations, or institutional customers.
Strong analytical, financial modeling, and strategic planning capabilities.
Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and senior leadership.
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience in vaccines, infectious disease, or respiratory therapeutic areas.
MBA, MPH, or other advanced degree preferred.
Experience supporting vaccine launches or seasonal immunization campaigns.
Familiarity with federal vaccine programs, public health purchasing mechanisms, and government pricing reporting requirements.
