About the role

UT MD Anderson is home to the Therapeutics Discovery Division, a multidisciplinary engine designed to accelerate the development of innovative therapies. Within this division, the RADIATE platform serves as an industrialized translational research unit focused on advancing radiopharmaceutical drug discovery and development through patient-centered research, cutting-edge science, and strong clinical collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Under minimal supervision, assists with validating and utilizing novel in vivo xenograft and allograft models.
  • Doses animals and analyzes the outcome of pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic and efficacy studies.
  • Performs survival and non-survival animal surgeries for specimen collection and characterization.
  • Utilizes non-invasive imaging.
  • Analyzes PET and SPECT data and help with preparation of written and oral reports to project teams.
  • Maintains high laboratory standards regarding quality and safety.
  • Maintains research records and laboratory notes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education: Required: Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Enzymology, Pharmacology, Chemistry or related field. Preferred: Master's Degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Enzymology, Pharmacology, Chemistry or related field.
  • Experience: Required: Three years relevant research experience in a lab. One year experience with preferred degree. Preferred: In vivo pharmacology experience including animal handling, dosing, and conducting drug PK/PD and efficacy studies with mice is required; experience with radiation for imaging and/or therapy is preferred. Experience with in vivo models including subcutaneous and orthotopic xenografts and/or genetically engineered models of cancer. Experience maintaining cell lines in tissue culture, preparing reagents and dosing solutions. Hands-on experience administering test agents by gavage or intravenous and intraperitoneal injections. Ability to perform tumor measurements. Prior experience with minor animal survival and non-survival surgery for specimen collection and characterization. Experience with in vivo imaging modalities and the evaluation of tissues and biological fluids for molecular and/or biochemical endpoints are desired. Experience with PET/CT SPECT/CT animal imaging.

  • Minimum Salary: US Dollar (USD) 76,650
  • Midpoint Salary: US Dollar (USD) 95,300
  • Maximum Salary: US Dollar (USD) 114,975
