About the role

The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) seeks an Installation Aircraft Engine Manager at the 366th Maintenance Group (MXG) in Mountain Home, ID. This position advises the MXG/CC on the administration of the base Engine Management Program and acts as the single point of contact for Engine Management inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Leads control of the base engine management program by maintaining currency of all aircraft engines, engine Time Change Items (TCIs), engine status, transportation, and management information system (MIS) databases at Mountain Home AFB, as well as deployed engines.
  • Affirms daily shop operations, assets in-work, and assets in-queue to develop daily work schedules. Adjusts established production schedules, as needed, based on production line or shop capacity, status of work in progress, time required to complete the activity, availability of skills, material such as Time Compliance Technical Order (TCTO) and Time Change Item (TCI) tools, and urgency of need.
  • Develops maintenance plans for assigned aircraft and associated equipment. Interprets design and/or production engineering data, standards of work processes, and master repair plans.
  • Reviews, validates, and processes workload induction documents. Reviews programmed Work Control Documents (WCDs) for work operations to be performed (i.e., repair, overhaul, manufacture, or modification) to ensure adequacy and accuracy of skill codes, equipment codes, work center codes, etc.
  • Develops preliminary operational schedules (utilization plans) and provides the Operations Group with an estimate of maintenance support capability to meet operational requirements.
  • Translates yearly operation requirements into quarterly, monthly, and weekly aircraft utilization plans to successfully execute all unit and higher headquarters operational and maintenance requirements.
  • Responsible for maintaining Data Documentation to include Aircraft Maintenance Historical Documentation, Aircraft Jacket Files and Aircraft Document Reviews.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • The successful completion of US Air Force Maintenance Scheduling School, two years of aircraft scheduling in a high tempo-flying environment, or a Bachelor’s degree in a related career field is highly desirable.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance.
  • This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
  • Integrated Maintenance Data Systems (IMDS) or Core Automated Maintenance System (CAMS) experience is highly desirable.
  • May be required to rarely work overtime, rotating shifts, uncommon tours of duty, weekends, etc.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Knowledge of the production organization and established production methods, processes, labor, machinery, manpower, and material requirements for the repair, overhaul, and/or modification of a variety of complex aircraft and commodity items.
  • Knowledge of governing supply regulations, procedures, instructions, functions, operations, program requirements, and work methods.
  • Skill in planning unprogrammed workloads; scheduling and balancing planned and unplanned workloads; and maintaining production schedules for complex items utilizing multiple process production methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of production policies and regulations and how to properly apply them to prevent or alleviate production delays and scheduling conflicts; plan for and alleviate material shortages or delays; and correct faulty or ineffective production methods, procedures, or operations.
