INSTALL HELPER

About the role

Elmer's Home Services is seeking a motivated HVAC Install Helper to join our growing team. This entry-level position supports our technicians and installers with residential and light commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning projects. The role offers hands-on training and advancement opportunities for individuals interested in building a long-term career in the HVAC trade.

Responsibilities

• Assist HVAC technicians and installers with system installations, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
• Prepare and maintain job sites, ensuring all safety standards and company procedures are followed.
• Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment for each project.
• Help with ductwork fabrication, assembly, and sealing.
• Support testing, troubleshooting, and start-up of HVAC systems.
• Maintain company vehicles, tools, and work areas in clean and organized condition.
• Follow direction from lead technicians and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
• Represent Elmer's Home Services with professionalism and strong customer service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Mechanical aptitude and eagerness to learn the HVAC trade.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in varying conditions (attics, crawl spaces, outdoors, heat).
• Reliable, punctual, and safety‑conscious.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Physical demands: climbing ladders, heavy lifting (50‑75 lbs), ability to pick up 25 lbs consistently and carry up to 250 ft unassisted, operate handheld power tools, wear PPE, work >40 hrs/week and up to 12 hrs/day as needed.
• Work environment: exposure to noise, dust, fumes; cramped/awkward positions; outdoor work in all weather; may require roof work.

Skills

• Prior experience or training in HVAC, construction, or a related trade (preferred but not required).
• Familiarity with basic hand and power tools.
• Understanding of HVAC components or basic electrical knowledge a plus.
