Inspector Trainee, Mosquito Extermination

Morris County Department of Public Works, Division of Mosquito Control is seeking an Inspector Trainee for mosquito extermination. This role involves learning to locate and recognize mosquito breeding areas and control mosquito populations.

Responsibilities

• Performs visual inspections of mosquitoes in habitats such as ditches, swamps, and stagnant water
• Learns to select and apply appropriate chemical and biological controls to mosquito habitats
• Responds to service requests and inquiries from the public
• Performs minor maintenance on extermination equipment, including oil changes, belt replacements, and minor repairs

Requirements

• Valid New Jersey driver’s license
• Must become a licensed Pesticide Applicator
• Ability to understand information about insects, particularly mosquitoes
• Must be able to keep records, follow maps, and work outside in various weather conditions
