This position is located in Vandenberg, CA and offers a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off. Travel is required approximately 10% of the time. No relocation assistance or security clearance is required to start.

This role uses predetermined methods, operations, setups, and prescribed specifications to inspect dimensionally and visually in-process and completed products such as mechanical and electronic components/assemblies, subsystems, precision electromechanical assemblies, or mechanical units to ensure they conform to specifications and requirements. The Inspector works from blueprints, diagrams, customer specifications, drawings, or inspection instructions and checklists, and uses various measuring devices such as calipers, gauges, dial indicators, preset micrometers, scales, fixtures, DMM's, and other hand tools.

The position involves creating Nonconformances in system applications and supporting the processing of nonconformances, including investigation into root cause and corrective action (RCCA) and verification of effectiveness. The Inspector may monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process control or other control procedures, perform containment of potential non-conforming products, and support equipment. Additional responsibilities include supporting electrical system and vehicle testing, inspection of ordnance components and systems, pressurization operations, and lifting/transporting operations.

Responsibilities

  • Inspection of materials from internal or external sources and services, involving physical inspection, documenting dimensional compliance, and review of supplier certifications for compliance.
  • Inspection of internally manufactured parts and final assemblies throughout all stages of production and review of final test data.
  • Inspection of product in accordance with drawings, work instructions, quality acceptance procedures, and maintenance of acceptance documentation and records.
  • Generate and review First Article Inspection Reports in accordance with AS9102.
  • Coordinate and assist with Customer and DCMA Source Inspections.
  • Verify calibration of tooling and other equipment is valid and current.
  • Perform a variety of inspection techniques: visual, conventional metrology (height gages, gage pins, thread gages, dial indicators, calipers, micrometers, functional gages, etc.).
  • Support project teams on non-conformance containment, corrective actions, root-cause investigations, audits, and other continuous-improvement activities.
  • May require flexibility to work overtime or within other departments or programs as required, including off-site work such as launch campaigns and special projects or assignments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years of additional education and/or related experience.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.
  • Experience using technical drawings and following manufacturing work instructions and inspection procedures.
  • Experience with quality systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during inspection and support of Operations.
  • Ability to lift 35 lbs.
  • Basic computer knowledge (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Experience coordinating actions and details of non-conformance incidents and processing per procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • TipQA experience.
  • Proficiency with and support of AS9102, including internal and external audits.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office Suite.
  • Interim or Full Secret Clearance.
  • Experience with soldering and solder workmanship acceptance standards.

Pay

Primary Level Salary Range: $56,000.00 - $93,400.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
