About the role
The inspector provides an independent, unbiased evaluation of materials or the work of others. The results of the Inspector's evaluation are documented and communicated to organizational stakeholders with an interest in the evaluation's outcome, typically supplier development and/or manufacturing. The Inspector's approval certifies the work or material meets the division's quality system requirements.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.
- Audits materials or the work of others through the examination, inspection, measurement, or test of raw materials, components, sub-assemblies, final assemblies, and documentation.
- Documents non-conformance or suspected non-conformance to standards (e.g., manufacturing documentation, material/component specifications, operating procedures, and domestic/international standards) through the identification of unsuccessful audits, completion of required paperwork, system transactions, and affixing a mark (e.g., stamp, sign-off, or signature).
- Handles discrepant materials per documented disposition and documents activities in appropriate systems or paperwork.
- Communicates the status of audit metrics and other assignments, responsibilities, and duties verbally and through periodic reports.
- Performs simple statistical analysis through data collection and input into software applications or manual calculations.
- Trains new, entry-level, and less experienced Quality Auditors through on-the-job training, group training, and one-on-one guidance.
- Issues, stores, counts, and maintains inventory in different storage areas.
- Handles, disposes, transfers, and documents hazardous waste appropriately.
- Plans and organizes non-routine tasks with approval, initiates or maintains work schedules, and establishes priorities for work assignments.
- Solves complex problems requiring advanced interpretation of generally defined procedures and practices, selecting methods to obtain thorough and practical solutions.
- Understands organizational structure and positions of key employees.
- Maintains general knowledge of products/services associated with the area and employees involved with specific product lines and services.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma / GED
- Associates Degree (± 13 years) - Preferred
- Minimum 4 years of related work experience
- Applies solid knowledge of business concepts, procedures, and practices, with a complete understanding of fundamentals in a functional area and working knowledge of related disciplines.
- Performs complex assignments usually without established procedures, requiring considerable judgment, initiative, creativity, and leadership in troubleshooting and suggesting alternatives.

Pay
The base pay for this position is $18.70 – $37.40 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
