About the Role

The Quality Control Inspector (Manufacturing) provides quality control support in a metal fabrication shop environment for the manufacturing of custom-designed piping enclosures and fittings to support field operations globally.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to company/customer safety standards and legal regulations, alerting others regarding potential hazards.
  • Performs all duties as assigned and adheres to TEAM’s Core Values.
  • Works with facility management and customer representatives to ensure customer satisfaction through analysis and reporting of customer satisfaction data (e.g., surveys), identifying and resolving customer issues, and providing guidance for resolution.
  • Communicates and interacts with customers and third parties on quality issues to uphold the company’s professional reputation.
  • Performs receiving inspection on incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting unacceptable materials.
  • Approves in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual, dimensional, or nondestructive testing, and communicating results or corrective measures to production supervision.
  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizing re-work, and inputting data into databases.
  • Maintains measuring equipment by following operating instructions, handling equipment properly, and storing it according to manufacturer directions.
  • Determines appropriate inspection procedures for parts or products, including:
    • Checking critical dimensions to specified tolerances.
    • Assessing machined finish and material hardness.
    • Detecting cracks or defects using visual or other inspection methods.
    • Inspecting critical components, tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauge devices.
    • Setting adjustable inspection instruments for accurate read-outs.
    • Performing in-process inspections on the shop floor.
  • Ensures all required Quality Assurance inspection points are completed and verifies documentation accuracy for the job package.
  • Upholds overall product quality by executing duties in line with inspection and quality assurance standards for commercial and nuclear industries.
  • Partners with the Quality Control Supervisor and facility management to support quality goals and meet customer expectations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school or college degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of inspection experience in a shop manufacturing setting preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret Quality Control documents, codes, standards, and customer specifications.
  • Solid working knowledge of blueprint reading.
  • Basic understanding of Nondestructive Testing (NDT) techniques (certification preferred), heat treating, and NDE/Heat Treat specifications.
  • Working knowledge of tape measures, calipers, and micrometers.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to handle delicate parts and measuring instruments.

Work Conditions

  • Position is based at a branch or site location with field duties requiring indoor and outdoor work in a plant atmosphere.
  • Interaction with crew employees, supervisors, and client personnel.
  • Work in plant/shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels.
  • Must wear safety equipment as required by the safety department.
  • May work at multiple job sites in a day and must tolerate climate changes.
  • Periodic travel out of town may be required.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk and climb except when performing non-field duties.
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing (or other communication capabilities) to communicate effectively, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to perform routine field duties, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Sufficient personal mobility and reflexes to perform office duties and travel to off-site locations, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to maneuver within a refinery or plant environment, including accessing elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells.
