About the role
This position covers several areas of Inspection responsibility through-out the facility. This position is a critical link between the shop floor associates, and the engineering specifications and requirements.
Responsibilities
- Ensure strict adherence to and implementation of Company Safety and Work rules.
- Performs inspection operations in each of the following areas: Final Inspection, Heat Treat Inspection, Plating Inspection, Receiving QC Inspection, Pre/Post OSP Inspection, In-Process Inspection, First Article Inspection.
- Create nonconformance documentation (NCRs) when discrepancies are detected at any inspection stage. Remove the discrepant material from the production areas.
- Maintain and support SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost) metrics in all areas assigned.
- Ensure that all quality requirements are being followed including procedural compliance and defect reporting. Act as a liaison between production associates and quality requirements.
- Communicate and coordinate with other members of the Quality team to ensure that all areas flow efficiently.
- Aid in absenteeism coverage to ensure all production requirements are met.
- Escalate production and assembly quality issues or work stoppages caused by a quality issue immediately.
- Set up and adjust gauges using required equipment or masters per specification requirements. Includes periodic verifications of gage set-up.
- Work with quality engineering in the design of new or modified gauging when required.
- Ability to help the manufacturing area in troubleshooting and resolving gage issues.
Requirements
- This position requires the applicant to be a US Person with a US permanent residence. A US Person is a US Citizen or Green card holder.
- A High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2-3 years of Inspection experience in a manufacturing environment demonstrating increasing accountability.
- 2-3 years previous Aerospace DSQR experience preferred.
- Qualified experience, ASQ Certified CQT CMI a plus.
- Thorough knowledge of the AS9102 (FAI’s) First Article Inspection process, and Quality Planning tools (including SPC, GR&R, Cpk, GD&T, DMAIC, First Piece Inspection, Cost of Quality).
- Understanding and basic knowledge of all aviation industry compliance standards required, including ISO and AS 9000 quality systems, ISO 10012, AS9100, ISO9001, FAA FAR regulations.
- Strong application knowledge of calibration and metrology systems including the development, improving, and approving gauging methodologies and design.
- Qualifications should include general or application knowledge of; quality assurance systems, Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, blue print interpretation, and process capability analysis.
- Effective communication skills – strong written and verbal communication skills. Including developing, implementing, and maintaining procedures, work instructions, and related forms that support the Quality system.
- Basic math aptitude.
- Working knowledge of engineering part drawings and general understanding of metallurgy; ability to understand the physical and mechanical properties of metals as affected by composition, mechanical working and heat treatments including metal cutting and grinding is desirable.
- Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management.
- Training and experience in Microsoft Office 2000 or greater.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively throughout the shift.
