This position is 100% onsite in Goleta, CA and cannot accommodate telecommute work. Travel is required, up to 10% of the time. No relocation assistance or security clearance is required to start.

Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Quality Inspector – Level 2 to join our team. The Quality Inspector will perform required inspections (visual, dimensional, load tests, etc.) on mechanical, electrical, or structural components or systems to ensure conformance with the quality requirements for spacecraft components and associated systems.

Responsibilities

• Uses predetermined methods, operations, setups, and prescribed specifications to inspect visually in-process and completed products.
• Performs required inspections (visual, dimensional, and functional) on spacecraft components using various measuring devices, such as calipers, micrometers, comparators, pin gages, and Coordinate Measuring Machines.
• Makes decisions regarding the acceptance or rejection of work and tests performed.
• Inspects and performs tests on mechanical, electrical, or structural components and assemblies related to spacecraft components and sub-assemblies. Inspections vary from close tolerance dimensional checks to general surveillance of work in progress.
• Accepts, rejects, or reworks defective or malfunctioning units or systems.
• Works from drawings, diagrams, customer specifications, and inspection instructions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
• Experience utilizing various measuring devices, such as calipers, micrometers, comparators, gages, pin gages, and other inspection tools.
• Knowledge of GD&T with the ability to read and comprehend detail control plans, work instructions, drawings, Bill of Materials, Specifications, and related criteria.
• U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong computer skills.
• Good written and oral communication skills with the ability to interface across the organization to achieve effective results.
• Experience working in a team environment to solve problems and balance workloads.
• Experience in Aerospace manufacturing, mechanical assemblies, and/or electronic assemblies.

Schedule

This position works a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

Pay

Primary Level Salary Range: $47,200.00 - $78,600.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
