Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Follows instructions.
- Translates dimensions from blueprints using shop math.
- Operates all equipment with a high degree of confidence.
- Communicates findings verbally and through the use of email and database applications.
- Uses basic inspection equipment (micrometer, calipers, test indicators, surface plate, etc.) and a Surface Roughness Tester (profilometer).
- Works with common geometric features used in blueprints and provides application knowledge of how to inspect for each (roundness, concentricity, flatness, runout, perpendicularity and parallelism).
- Reads and correctly interprets rejection documentation (rejection tags, purge and hold forms, RGRs, RMAs, etc.).
- Enters data into inspection database.
- Sets up inspection gage equipment (bore gages, thread micrometers, etc.).
- Capable of coordinating and managing calibration POs; keep tools flowing in and out on schedule, keep records complete and accurate, etc.; all with minimal supervision.
- Uses a Profile Projector (Comparator) and Hardness Tester.
- Inspects any dimension applicable to surface plate and hand tool inspection.
- Obtains correct information from MRP application to properly perform a MRB transaction (inventory control of a rejected item).
- Keeps work area and equipment carts organized and clean.
- Keeps SAP transactions organized and doesn’t leave notifications and requests open and forgotten.
- Mets productivity goals related to your department workload.
- Observes company safety standards.
- Must be able to operate both powered and non-powered material handling equipment including forklifts, pallet jack, cranes, and mobile straddle stacker lift.
- Reports any damage to a supervisor or manager.
- Employees must exhibit honesty and integrity as well as demonstrate adherence to rules, procedures and policies.
Qualifications
- Understanding of shop math, geometry and related trigonometry for 90 degree triangular calculations.
- Knowledge concerning the proper inspection tool selection.
- Can obtain and maintain a license for the safe operation of a Haas fork truck.
- Working knowledge of ESD protection / handling requirements.
- Reads and correctly interpret blueprints, procedures and work instructions.
- Demonstrates cleanliness requirements involved with inspection equipment and parts being inspected.
- Working knowledge of electronic component identification, understanding units of measure and common methods of testing for component compliance.
