About the role
The inspector 1 is responsible for the handling, measurement, visual inspection, correction, and cleaning of parts. May carry out inspection duties in any or all the following areas: incoming parts, in-process, final inspection before shipment and in audits.
Inspector also records data and ensures product meets all design and quality requirements in the work order.
Responsibilities
- Visual inspection of various parts to verify adherence to customer specifications and/or work order.
- May visually inspect with a variety of tools including assisting with fluorescent penetrate inspection (FPI) water wash.
- May cross train in other areas of quality or packaging and fill in when needs arises.
- Uses various dimensioning tools daily and various handheld digital measuring devices.
- Also, may be trained on CMM, optical comparator, and various other tools.
- Wears appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
- Treats equipment in a safe and protective manner to ensure it lasts and is undamaged.
- Knows basic Excel and can accurately enter data into spreadsheet without data entry or decimal errors.
- Visually inspects irregular sized parts using microscope, calipers, micrometer, and optical comparator as needed.
- Complies with applicable requirements of Kyocera International, Inc. policy, ISO 9000, ISO 14001 requirements, ITAR regulations.
- Participates in company 5S and safety program.
- Cleans work area and organizes lab as needed.
- Reads specifications and mechanical drawings to ensure understanding. Asks questions when unclear.
- Should have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 0-6 months experience in a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read, write, and comprehend verbal and written instructions in English
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply to determine tolerances
- Vision and depth perception suitable for use of inspection microscopes 20/20 corrected vision - varies by division
- Willingness to wear finger cots, masks, and/or clean-room apparel
- Ability to either stand or sit for extended periods
- Ability to bend, push, pull, reach, grab, turn, twist, and/or stoop
- Ability to grab small parts or hand tools with hands/ fingers
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs. depending on the specific function
- Able to work with frequent interruptions and changing priorities
- Eligible to work in an ITAR environment
