Job Responsibilities
- Develop, optimize, and maintain SMT inspection processes utilizing SPI, AOI, AXI, and post-pack inspection systems
- Create, refine, and validate inspection programs to improve detection accuracy, reduce false calls, and enhance overall defect coverage
- Support SPI systems (e.g., Koh Young KY8030), AOI platforms (e.g., Koh Young Zenith series), AXI systems (e.g., Vitrox V810 XLT), and Pack AOI systems
- Collaborate with Design and Process Engineering teams to ensure PCB manufacturability and comprehensive inspection coverage
- Analyze inspection data, heatmaps, SPC trends, and defect patterns to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
- Perform troubleshooting of inspection equipment including vision systems, lighting, conveyor systems, communication interfaces, and software configurations
- Conduct system validation activities including GR&R studies, correlation analysis, and process capability evaluations
- Maintain inspection documentation, standard operating procedures, and defect classification criteria in accordance with IPC standards
- Support preventive maintenance, calibration activities, and equipment upgrades
- Work directly with equipment vendors for advanced technical support and system optimization
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield improvement, defect reduction, and cycle time optimization
- Assist in training technicians and operators on inspection standards and best practices
- Support new product introduction (NPI) activities by validating inspection readiness and program effectiveness
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or Manufacturing Engineering required; advanced degree preferred
- 1+ years of hands-on experience with SMT inspection systems (SPI, AOI, AXI) required
- Experience with Koh Young, Vitrox, and/or iHolly inspection platforms strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of SMT processes including stencil printing, reflow soldering, and PCB assembly
- Knowledge of IPC-A-610 standards and electronic defect classification methods
- Experience with SPC, root-cause analysis, and structured problem-solving tools such as DMAIC, 5 Why, and Fishbone
- Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills
