The Kansas City National Security Campus (KCNSC), managed and operated by Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies, is a premier advanced manufacturing facility that supports the safety, security, reliability and effectiveness of our nation's nuclear deterrent. This role involves servicing and maintaining all types of special design gages and capital gaging equipment, without requiring knowledge of electronic circuitry or affecting electronic calibration.
Responsibilities
- Perform necessary layouts and inspection setups to check mechanical functioning of design gages.
- Work with Production, Inspection, Process Engineering, and Gage Design in performance of duties.
- Perform minor repairs which shall not alter gaging equipment dimensions.
- Calibrate capital type gaging equipment as required.
- Calibrate dial indicators, torque equipment, force gages, and other details of design gages and capital gaging equipment.
- Inspect, calibrate, repair, and adjust standard gages including thread ring gages, snap gages, micrometers, torque equipment, dial indicators, and plug gages to established procedures or other applicable specifications.
- Operate a crib or receiving station, including checking equipment in and out, maintaining stock, and keeping necessary records.
- Make necessary setups and operate all precision equipment required for the task.
- Inspect, calibrate, repair, and adjust standard gages such as gage pins, micrometers, calipers, depth mics, bore gages, etc.
- Calibrate and repair capital type gaging equipment, including bench micrometers, force gages, optical comparators, surface plates, and measuring scopes.
- Place calibration labels on design gages before shipping to the using department.
- Transport tools, materials, and equipment to and from job sites as necessary.
- Comply with applicable provisions of Article 19 (Environment, Safety, Health, and Good Housekeeping) of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Read and follow written calibration procedures.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship, able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to work any shift.
- Working knowledge of shop mathematics including geometry and trigonometry, or equivalent military training or experience.
- Experience with standard gages, shop mathematics, handbook formulae, and reading and following written procedures.
Skills
- Basic knowledge of mechanical gaging and their functions, or the ability to determine mechanical function and establish potential repair.
- Formal machinist technical training from vocational or trade school (preferred).
- Experience using hand gages such as calipers, micrometers, plug gages, threaded plug gages, threaded rings, etc.
- Experience with design gages (preferred).
- Proactive and clear communication of important, comprehensive, and specific information.
- Ability to read technical data and specifications.

Location: Kansas City National Security Campus, 14520 Botts Road, Kansas City, MO, 64147. This is an on-site position with 0-10% travel required.
