About the role

Insomniac is looking for Exterior Operations Crew. This position will report to the Director of Exterior Operations.

Available Positions

  • Exterior Operations Site Crew/Heavy Equipment Operator: Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, stakebeds, water trucks, dump trucks, front-end loaders, skid steers, etc. Forklift certification required. Earth-moving equipment and/or CDL certifications and experience are a plus.
  • Ext Ops Build Leads: Experienced in festival builds or comparable experiences. Leads understand not just what to build but why and how. Responsibilities include directing crew safety, working with fence vendors to mark fence lines, managing inventory for loading/unloading trucks, and reporting maintenance needs to heavy equipment vendors.
  • Signage Crew: Responsible for hanging signs around the festival perimeter to direct attendees. Tasks range from installing small signs with zip ties to larger signs on overhead truss or parking lot flags. Forklift certification is helpful but not required.
  • Signage Leads: Perform all signage crew duties and understand the placement rationale. Direct the signage crew, with a strong grasp of the local area, patron flow, key points of interest, and paths of travel. Requires prior signage or similar department experience.
  • Shuttle Loader/Unloader: Entry-level role focused on loading and unloading attendees from buses on show days. No certifications required.
  • Shuttle Leads: Handle bus loading/unloading and take on higher-level responsibilities, such as managing staff breaks, checking in bus drivers, ensuring smooth bus operations, and troubleshooting issues.

Requirements

  • Clean motor vehicle report
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • 18 years or older
  • Able to walk long distances for extended periods
  • Able to lift 50+ lbs
  • Clean and presentable attire (show blacks)
  • Motivated with an “Everything is possible” attitude
  • Active problem solver with a sense of urgency for projects large and small
  • Heavy equipment certification (for relevant roles)
  • OSHA certification (preferred)

Work Environment

  • Tolerate loud noise levels and busy environments
  • Work in drastic temperature climates
  • Willing to travel frequently to events during holidays, evenings, and weekends as required

Pay

Hiring salary range: $16.00–$30.00 USD per hour. Compensation is estimated based on a successful California applicant and assumes the role is performed in or from California. Similar positions outside California may receive different compensation. Factors considered include education, training, experience, work location, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel, external market rates, and internal pay alignment.
