Carotek, a SunSource company, provides process equipment solutions for the industrial, commercial and municipal markets in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia and Virginia. Carotek represents over 85 manufacturers as their process equipment distributor, representative, and repair center for pumps, blowers, heat exchangers, valves, instrumentation, IIoT, steam, hydronics and municipal products.

About the role

We’re looking for an energetic, self-driven, technically inclined individual to join our team in the Mechanical group. You would be supporting the sales process from the administrative side and providing technical customer service and insight on products such as: pumps, blowers, filtration, heat exchangers, and steam products. This position requires learning and supporting the technical products in our Mechanical group. The ideal candidate will train under an employee who is retiring and have the ability to absorb their knowledge. It is ideal for someone who likes to solve problems, provide customer service, and utilize critical thinking strategies to find solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Providing outstanding service to our customers and support to the outside sales staff regarding Mechanical equipment orders;
  • Answering telephone calls or responding to customer correspondence regarding technical questions on products or systems;
  • Engaging in technical discussions to obtain applicable information to identify the correct product needed and advising customers on substitution or modification of product when replacement is necessary;
  • Selecting and specifying products based on customer application and design prerequisites;
  • Conferring and corresponding with service technicians, service managers, or manufacturers to resolve unusual or complex technical problems or refer highly complex problems to your Manager;
  • Supplying detailed product quotations by computing price, discount, and shipping charges as required and within company guidelines;
  • Informing customers of pricing, back orders, delivery, delayed shipments, and/or any other problems related to the order process and providing tracking information;
  • Obtaining purchase order number and/or credit card information from customers;
  • Conferring with Accounting to research and resolve invoicing or credit discrepancies;
  • Attending sales meetings or educational activities to stay up-to-date on the latest technical developments with the products.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent from a two-year College or technical school; or two to four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, positive displacement pumps (especially internal gear and vane pumps), filtration, and/or a very strong mechanical aptitude;
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical drawings, write reports, and general business correspondence;
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, proportions, and percentages and the ability to convert standard measurement to metric;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, etc.) and Prophet 21.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an engineering program of study (preferred).

Schedule

This is a full-time in-office position. Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
