Inside Sales Representative I Sales - Inside Sales

About the role

Under direct supervision, provides sales and customer service activities primarily related to retail customers, utilizing knowledge of sales techniques and industry expertise.

Responsibilities

• Provides customer service to retail customers via walk-in, telephone, or email, including assisting with product selection, pricing, availability, and refunds/exchanges.
• Actively engages in selling company products/services and related items.
• Provides material estimates and quotes for small packages (stairs, decks, fences, sheds, etc.).
• Enters orders into the system and schedules product delivery.
• Plans and paces work efficiency to meet productivity goals.
• Participates in coordinating and conducting customer workshops.
• Handles and resolves simple customer complaints; escalates complex issues to senior staff.
• Assists with store housekeeping, signage, stocking, inventory control, and related activities.
• Understands and observes all safety procedures to prevent injury; attends periodic safety meetings and may recommend safety improvements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and six months of sales-related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills

• Knowledge of company products, competitor’s products, and company standards.
• Understanding of company product pricing, discount, and estimating formulas.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong customer service skills.
• Knowledge of basic sales techniques and ability to influence and persuade.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and enterprise resource planning (ERP) programs.
• Ability to use motorized and non-motorized material handling equipment.

Work Environment

• Subject to both office and outdoor environments with temperature and weather variations.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 80 pounds occasionally.
• Standing or walking for 80% of the day; stooping and kneeling throughout the day.
• Occasional use of hand tools, saws, forklifts, and pallet jacks to assist customers.
• Frequent reaching, extending hands and arms in any direction.
