Inpatient Staffing Specialist (Part-Time, Nights)

Compensation range: $23.09 - $29.56 per hour, based on applicable experience.

About the Role

The Inpatient Staffing Specialist serves as the central point of contact for charge nurses, nurse managers, and nursing administration staff. This role involves accurately collecting and analyzing staffing details from inpatient units, including special acuity assignments for patients and staff. Using acuity tools, staffing matrices, staffing policies, and union contracts, the Specialist works independently—under the guidance of the Nursing Supervisor—to determine optimal staff allocation and utilization. Responsibilities include monitoring sick calls, electronic attendance logs, and low-census situations across all inpatient locations. The role operates in a fast-paced environment, requiring strong prioritization skills and the ability to maintain an orderly workspace that supports the Nursing Supervisor Office and the organization as a whole. Confidentiality of sensitive information is strictly maintained.

Responsibilities

• Collect and analyze staffing details from inpatient units, including patient and staff acuity assignments.

Requirements

• One year of experience utilizing clerical, computer, and receptionist skills (healthcare environment preferred).
• Excellent telephone and interpersonal skills to foster rapport with managers, coworkers, employees, and the public.
• Ability to make appropriate decisions within established guidelines for work organization and scheduling.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Ability to follow instructions, maintain confidentiality, and work quickly and accurately in a fast-paced environment.
• Analytical and grammatical skills for effective verbal and written communication.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
• Ability to compile data into usable report formats.
• Capability to fulfill the essential functions of the position.
