Job Description
The Rehab Technician is a non-licensed caregiver who works under the direction of a Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Speech Therapist, and/or Assistant to aid in the provision of patient care. The technician will be involved with patient preparation, components of certain interventions, and post-treatment procedures. Specific tasks will be determined by the specific therapy provider, Physical Therapy (PT), Occupational Therapy (OT), or Speech Language Pathology (SLP).
The Technician attends to the daily tasks of departmental organization and upkeep. The Technician will be expected to perform various clerical, regulatory, and environment of care duties on a regular basis. The rehab technician may serve as an office coordinator or liaison when requested by the department leader.
Essential Functions
- Administers components of interventions (therapeutic exercise, therapeutic activity, gait training, activities of daily living); specific functions and tasks will be determined by the therapy provider (PT, OT, or SLP)
- Performs setup for exercise, evaluation, or modality equipment
- Affords assistance in transfer and/or transport of patients, as needed
- Takes vital signs, as needed
- Affords assistance in the initiation and monitoring of patients on available therapy and exercise equipment within the rehab department
- Maintains oversight of departmental supply levels
- Performs clerical duties (answers phones, scheduling, data entry, filing)
- Reports any and all status changes regarding patient to supervising Therapist or Assistant
- Maintains organization and cleanliness of all patient care equipment and treatment areas
Additional Job Description
- Initiates orders for repairs and routes non-functioning equipment for repair
- Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct
- Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Performs other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or GED/ equivalent (required)
- Experience: Previous clerical experience (preferred)
- Experience: As Physical Therapy Tech (preferred)
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) (required)
