Inpatient Rehab Occupational Therapist at Northside Glancy in Duluth

About the role

Innovative Therapy Concepts is seeking an Occupational Therapist to join our team at Northside Glancy, a newly renovated 30-bed Acute Inpatient Rehab facility. The ideal candidate will be passionate about patient recovery in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Adapts to changes in the work environment and manages competing demands.
• Manages difficult or emotional customer situations and responds promptly to customer needs.
• Maintains gym area and equipment, provides education to patients, caregivers, and associates, and coordinates groups.
• Communicates and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, attends and participates in patient care planning meetings, and supervises treatment and documentation of the occupational therapy assistant.
• Accepts responsibility for own growth and development through inservices, required programs, and continuing education.
• Complies with all established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
• Provides care and documentation in accordance with regulatory, legal, and reimbursement guidelines.
• Serves on performance improvement teams and participates in community services.
• Delegates treatment tasks to COTAs and aides in accordance with OT state practice guidelines.
• Participates in budget development and cost-saving efforts.
• Performs daily operations and basic maintenance of office equipment and machines.

Qualifications

• Graduate from a CAPTE-accredited physical therapy program.
• Strong emphasis on patient care, quality, outcomes, and efficiency.
• Excellent communication and people skills.
• Appropriately assesses and examines patients with varying diagnoses according to OT scope of practice.
• Treats patients within the OT scope of practice.
• Teaches patients how to use and care for orthotic, prosthetic devices, and other assistive apparati.
• Administers and interprets standardized assessments/tests.
• Fabricates splints.
• Recommends appropriate adaptive equipment for activities of daily living.
• Maintains gym area and equipment.
• Provides education to patients, caregivers, and associates regarding OT interventions, safety, community resources, and outcomes.
• Attends and participates in patient care planning meetings as assigned.
• Supervises treatment and documentation of the occupational therapy assistant.
• Communicates and collaborates with all customers and interdisciplinary team members.
• Contributes to profits and revenues including marketing and productivity.
• Participates in budget development and cost-saving efforts.
• Serves on performance improvement teams.
• Participates in community services.
• Delegates treatment tasks to COTAs and aides in accordance with OT state practice guidelines.
• Provides care and documentation in accordance with regulatory, legal, and reimbursement guidelines.
• Accepts responsibility for own growth and development through inservices, required programs, and continuing education.
• Complies with all established hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
• Maintains CPR certification.
