About the role

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and highly motivated Inpatient Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Pediatric Psychiatric care team. Working under the guidance of the Director of Nursing and in compliance with the State Nurse Practice Act, the RN plays a key role in delivering safe, evidence-based care to children and adolescents experiencing acute behavioral health challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, evidence-based care to children and adolescents experiencing acute behavioral health challenges.
  • Play a key role in assessment, coordination, delegation, and quality improvement.
  • Perform physical holds, movements, and carries, including blocking and redirecting patient movements against the patient’s weight.
  • Engage in crisis prevention and intervention, and milieu management.
  • Document patient care effectively and communicate with other healthcare professionals.
  • Lead with compassion and strength, making a lasting impact on young lives and being a vital force in their healing process.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited RN nursing program.
  • Maintain CPR and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention with Advanced Physical Skills certification within three months of hire.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in psychiatric or pediatric nursing preferred.

  • A child and adolescent-centered approach, including developmentally appropriate communication, trauma-informed care mindset, playfulness, and creativity.
  • Team collaboration and leadership, including teamwork, delegation skills, mentorship mindset.
  • Resilience and adaptability, including emotional resilience, flexibility, and problem-solving mindset.
  • Organizational and communication skills, including strong documentation habits, effective communication, and attention to detail.

Skills

  • Ability to perform physical holds, movements, and carries.
  • Ability to move quickly and confidently to intervene in situations when protective holds and/or movements are deemed necessary.
  • Physically able to perform, but not limited to: pivoting, knee squats, shuffling front and backwards, assisting with carrying a person, assisting a person to the floor, stabilizing people in standing, seated, prone, and supine positions.
